It turned out to be a blessing in disguise for me when I learned I would require an extended hospital stay and was fortunate to have found Hill Country Specialty Hospital.  I was overwhelmed by the relationships that the staff and doctors formed with the patients and their extended families, they truly care!  The food at Hill Country Specialty Hospital rivals that of a five star hotel.  I would highly recommend you look in to this lovely facility if you or someone you know requires an extended hospitalization.

While I was a patient at the short term acute  hospital in New Braunfels, my physician discussed with me the need  to go to a long term acute care hospital for further medical care and rehab.  A nurse liaison for Hill Country Specialty Hospital, formerly Gulf States LTAC Hospital of New Braunfels, came to discuss with me the benefits of Hill Country Specialty Hospital and within one hour, I was accepted.  When I arrived at Hill Country Specialty Hospital, I was immediately greeted by the friendly staff and they all said, "Hi Mr. Caffey, welcome to Hill Country Specialty Hospital".  My room, was large, very clean, and well-lit, and I had a large window and could see the flowers outside.  Once settled in bed, I was immediately welcomed by two nurses who made sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed.  Thereafter, I had a steady stream of nurses, therapists, and housekeepers assuring my comfort, starting my medical treatment and therapy, and making sure my room was kept clean and tidy.  The food at Hill Country Specialty Hospital was fantastic!  I even asked the lady who was serving the food, if my mother was the cook!  It was real home cooking!  The therapy staff was always on time and always courteous.  Nursing care was totally outstanding!  When I was well enough to go home, I was excited to be leaving but also sad to be leaving - everyone at Hill Country Specialty Hospital took such great care of myself, my family, and my visitors.  I think of the staff at Hill Country Specialty Hospital often and visit when I can.  I would recommend Hill Country Specialty Hospital to anyone who needs medical care and rehabilitation!

Before I came to Hill Country Specialty Hospital, my experience in today's healthcare world had been "put a patch on the person and send them home". Then I ended up back in the emergency room. After another week in the hospital a very nice woman from Hill Country Specialty Hospital came, and we talked. I had random thoughts, as, in the past, all else had failed, but I decided to try this hospital out. I was told that I might be there for as long as three to four weeks, but what is time if you can be healed?

I was in dire straits when I got to Hill Country Specialty Hospital. I had never been this far down in my life, and, when I looked around, I saw smiling faces. These smiles were from their hearts; they truly cared! As the days passed into weeks, I was in awe because every staff member made sure all of my needs were met. They all went above and beyond the call of duty. The therapy department also made sure that I was progressing daily.  My room was always very clean, and my meals were out of this world.  The medical staff went the extra mile to explain my treatment and why I was taking certain medicines.

So, I would like to share with each doctor and employee at Hill Country Specialty Hospital, "Thank you for my life, and thank you for getting me back on the proper road to recovery".
